What kind of leather does Zhosie use?

Belts are cut from full-grain, vegetable-tanned hides at 4 mm or thicker, because a belt sits under tension every day and needs dense fibre so the holes do not stretch. Handbags use top-grain and full-grain chrome-tanned leather chosen for drape and low empty weight.

Yes. Every Zhosie piece goes through 47 individual steps and is made by a single artisan, rather than moving along an assembly line.

How should I care for a leather belt or handbag?

Condition untreated full-grain leather twice a year, in spring and autumn. Wipe finished top-grain leather with a barely damp cloth and condition it once a year. Never dry leather with a hairdryer, heater, or direct sun — rapid drying is what cracks leather, not water itself.

In short: if you only browse, we collect nothing that identifies you. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address. If you place an order, we store the details needed to fulfil and account for it — and your card number never reaches our server, because it is handled entirely by our payment provider.

Card data. We never see or store your full card number, expiry date or security code. Payment details are entered on our payment provider's own checkout and are handled by them as an independent controller under their own privacy policy. We record only the payment status, the amount, and the provider's reference for the transaction.

We do not: sell your data, build advertising profiles, or use fingerprinting.

3. Cookies

We use a small number of cookies. Essential ones are required for the site to work; analytics cookies load only if you accept them. Full details are in our Cookie Policy.

4. Who we share data with

Your subscription data stays on our own server and is never sent to a third party.

To deliver an order we do share the minimum necessary with:

Our payment provider — receives your name, contact details, order amount and payment data in order to take payment and issue refunds. Card details are entered directly with them and never pass through our server.
Carriers and customs brokers — receive the recipient name, delivery address, phone number and a description of the goods, because a customs declaration is legally required for an international parcel.
Our accountant — receives order and payment records where needed to meet bookkeeping and tax obligations.

We do not sell personal data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.

Analytics are not currently enabled. If we enable them later, the consent banner will ask you first, and this policy will be updated.

5. How long we keep it

Subscription records are kept for 730 days (about 2 years) from your last interaction, or until you unsubscribe. Server access logs are rotated and kept for a short operational period, then deleted.

Order and payment records are kept longer than that — typically 10 years — because Chinese accounting and tax law requires us to retain transaction records for that period. Because of that legal obligation we cannot delete an order record on request before the retention period ends; we can delete the marketing data attached to it instead.

6. Your rights

Under the PIPL you have the right to:

Access — get a copy of the data we hold about you
Rectification — have inaccurate data corrected
Erasure — have your data deleted ("right to be forgotten")
Restriction — ask us to pause processing
Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
Withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we will delete the record.

8. Security

We use HTTPS, http-only session cookies, CSRF protection on every state-changing action (including checkout and admin), and rate limiting on public forms. Order amounts are recalculated on our server, never taken from the browser. No system is perfectly secure, but we take proportionate measures and review them regularly.

9. Changes

Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
